Learn More. I'm afraid to try Highest as it could fry my motherboard. Luckily, I haven't had to break it off Auto so this will not effect it's rating. Otherwise, it will refuse to boot Windows. I have RAM which underclocked to after raising my E to 3. This isn't a big issue for me though since there really is no difference in real applications past 3. Overall Review: Well, I've owned this board for a little less than a month. And I must say, it's performing extremely well.
I mean, for the price, this thing is a steal. At the moment, X48 technology is pretty expensive and this comes off as an entry-level board. Don't let the little amount of reviews and company name scare you. This big board is coming from a little company who knows what customers want. Pros: Excellent mid-high end motherboard. ASRock cuts out some of the useless extra's of the x48 chipset, such as an extra 1x PCI-E slot, in exchange for a high-quality motherboard at a reasonable price.
Full speed Crossfire 2. Much better than the P45 chipset which only runs at 8x while using crossfire. I tried overclocking my processor from 2.
The tuner told me I that it was running at 3. But, when I ran Prime95, my benchmark test had not changed at all from what it was at 2. The voltage settings are somewhat lacking. Overall Review: Q Quad Core 2. CPU-z shows 1. Intel X48 chipset. Solid state capacitors. Cons: No major ones to speak of so far The included wifi antenna and board are a little funny, but you don't have to use them if you don't want to!
You may be able to buy an adapter, but it didn't bother me enough to worry about it. Vista did not automatically recognize the LAN card, I just had to install drivers from the included disk.
Overall Review: You will probably read that the ATX power connector is in an inconvenient place, but I didn't find this to be true at all. I did have a little trouble connecting all the wiring, but I think this was primarily due to the bottom-mounted PSU design used in my case, and not the motherboard itself.
Pros: Installed with no hitches at all. Everything ran great right off the bat, no compatibility issues. I'm not an overclocker but there are some options for that as well if you want to use them.
ASRock even includes a utility for overclocking right in windows if the bios makes you uncomfortable. Pros: Puchased this in late July, and it's been running rock solid for about a month.
I've had no problems at all. The built-in LAN is working fine as is the onboard sound. I have not tried overclocking very much yet. However, I didn't do any voltage adjustments, so it is very likly I can make it stable at those settings. Cons: The instruction manual looks big, but it turns out that is because it contains several language versions.
Overall, the info contained seems a bit lacking. Would like to see more info on some of the BIOS settings. However, it does include the key details to get things setup and running. Gives an overal 5. Overclocking should allow it to hit the max 5.
Pros: Great board! Booted on first start, everything went swimmingly. The set up was easy and everything was easy to locate and hook up. The BIOS is straight forward and easy to use. My rig runs fantastic and 5 of the products I bought were nominated for Customer Choice Awards.
Overall Review: O. If you are thinking about building a rig right now it just makes sense to get this board. Yeah, in 12 months it probably won't, but right now this board is perfect. It is a good way to save some money when getting your rig built without sacrificing performance.
Great board for a great price. Remember when we were talking about the placement of the ATX? Well here is a better picture of it. I am not one for a lot of bling that we are starting to witness on some boards like the MSI variations but I would like to see something more advance than these on such a board.

Now we get to the fun part of the review the part that everyone is waiting for. If you were to ask me would I recommend this board to anyone that plans to overclock I would respond quickly with a hell yes.
This is definitely the best overclocking motherboard from Asrock to date. We began the overclocking process by trying to find the max megahertz from the CPU using the default 9x ratio. We up the voltage to 1. The same results happened all the way to MHz. This was the last of the stable settings. We are happy to say we were able to get the board to boot and run at MHz before it would not post anymore.
The X48TurboTwins has a lot of promise in it. This is by far the best overclocking motherboard from Asrock. After overclocking many Asrock board in the past I did not have my hopes set too high as the results from past experiences were only mediocre.
Things can change for Asrock as long as they continue to progress the way they did with this board. My advice is to give this board a chance. Granted no board comes without its faults and this board has a few. And also the small passive coolers that are uses to cool the chipsets on the board could be better. The first problem cannot be solved as this is where Asrock decided to place it. The cooling can easy be replaced by various aftermarket solutions.
Purchasing anyone of these solutions will still cost less than other X48 and I motherboards. This board is plentiful when it comes to connectivity. This is where Asrock put all the extras that make this board worth buying. Overclocking is one thing but functionality is another and this board has plenty of functionality.
With the number of ports it offers one should not run out of ports for a long time. It gives you just enough options to get an above average overclock. If the board had more memory tweak as well as voltage options I think this board could have gotten our test Intel E close to what the Gigabyte X48 did which was MHz.
